The author believes that there are at least four major trends in the lighting industry in the next decade:

Trend 1: from single point to overall situation. Although in the past few years, players from different industries such as Internet enterprises, traditional lighting manufacturers and hardware manufacturers have cut into the smart home track from different angles, the competition of the smart home track is not easy. Now it has been upgraded from a single business scheme to a platform based overall scheme. Recently, many lighting manufacturers have cooperated with Huawei in the smart home industry and will work with Huawei to create more smart home scenarios based on Huawei Hongmeng system. It is expected that in the next three years, global intelligent applications of enterprise production decision-making closed loop, which run through all links such as supply chain, production, assets, logistics and sales, will emerge on a large scale.

Trend 2: realize cloud native transformation. In the past, the list service contact between manufacturers was often limited to a form, which was expressed in the “sales” relationship. In the era of digital Internet of things, manufacturers also need to build a “cloud” to accurately calculate the barriers existing upstream and downstream, reduce the trial and error cost of business, and improve the deployment and iteration speed of business applications. As the core concept of the cloud computing era, “cloud native” provides enterprises with a new technical way to use the cloud, helps enterprises quickly enjoy the cost and efficiency advantages brought by cloud computing, and comprehensively accelerates the process of enterprise digital innovation and upgrading. It is estimated that within two years, 75% of global enterprises will use cloud native container applications in commercial production. In the lighting industry, many leading enterprises have plans.

Trend 3: new materials usher in the application explosion. With the continuous expansion of application fields, new materials such as high-power LED white light rare earth materials and 100nm sapphire nano films will play a great potential in the field of LED lighting in the future, whether in manufacturing technology, economic construction and national defense construction. Taking animal and plant lighting technology as an example, at present, the electro-optic conversion efficiency of LED plant lamp is more than 20 times that of incandescent lamp, 3 times that of fluorescent lamp and nearly 2 times that of high-pressure sodium lamp. It is estimated that the global market scale of plant lighting equipment applied to plant factory sector will reach US $1.47 billion in 2024.

Trend 4: “wisdom” has become the standard configuration of cities in the future. Under the change of market wind direction, an integrated management service platform that gathers, exchanges and shares urban data and makes intelligent decisions on this basis, that is, urban operation center, will gradually rise. The construction of urban operation center is bound to be inseparable from the “smart light pole”, which dynamically collects data reflecting urban elements, events and states by digital means. It can be seen that “wisdom” will become the standard configuration of cities in the future.
